Count on parades and legendary block parties that involve all sorts of merriment – because having one of anything just won’t do in New Orleans. Here are some ways to celebrate St. Patrick's Day in New Orleans: 🤩 Parades. Metairie Road St. Patrick's parade rolls at noon Sunday. The Krewe of Argus parade, which was canceled for bad weather on Mardi Gras Day, will roll at 10am Sunday ahead of the Old Metairie parade. Covington's St. Patrick's Day parade and Krewe du Pooch in Mandeville New Orleans never misses a chance for a parade, and St. Patrick’s Day brings its own unique twist to the tradition. While Mardi Gras (a carnival held on Shrove Tuesday) might be famous for its bead-throwing, these Irish-themed processions take things to another level — tossing everything from cabbages to carrots into the crowd.
